Here’s one of the coolest 18-year-olds I know. He is an old soul – hilarious, witty, thoughtful and wise beyond his years.
I have known Blake’s family for a few years. His dad coached my oldest daughter’s soccer teams for many seasons (amazing coach and leader if I might add!), and their family is very special. They are kind and generous and you just feel blessed to know them.
Blake is one of those guys who has great stories to tell. And the way he tells it is just as funny – very dry and matter-of-fact. He’s quiet, but when he has something to say you better listen because you know it’s something you won’t want to miss.
Don’t miss his story.

Homeschool | Forney, Texas
plans to attend UT Tyler
major: Nursing
best high school memory: Probably impersonating my teammate in the National All-Region basketball game. He didn’t want to play for personal reasons so I snuck down into the tunnel instead and basically hid behind taller people until we ran out onto the court.
In 15 years: I will hopefully be living in Hawaii.
My dream vacation: I just recently discovered Alpine Lakes, and I’m in love.
Most prized possession: I haven’t personally owned too many things in my short lifetime, but I do cherish an old basketball net I cut down from a rim while on a mission trip. We replaced it with a new one so I kept all the old ones. It reminds me of all the fun we had.
Most influential person in my life: I’d have to say my great-grandfather, Audy, or “Pop”, is one of the most influential people. His love for his family and good nature taught me the kind of man I should want to grow into one day. Also, he accepted Christ at an old age, and it really stuck with me that God does amazing things with all people.
My best talent: either my basketball ability or playing the guitar. Or making situations really awkward on purpose.
favorite meal: Mongolian stir-fry
People would be surprised to know that I: am told I look like the Biebs almost every day.
I’m happiest when: I get to sit on my roof and watch the sun set.
Thank you, Blake!
Your future is big. Can’t wait to see it.
