2016 was my busiest year to date! And I think it’s fitting since I’m close to my anniversary of a decade-long career as a photographer. As usual, I loved capturing all these special shots of new and returning families, and these pictures make me smile BIG. I hope they make you happy, too. The session locations this past fall included a field near my home in Forney, TX, sessions in the Dallas Bishop Arts District, Klyde Warren Park, Katy, TX and also tree farm mini sessions at my home.
I always create a special “Christmas-y” concept shoot every season. I stress over these a lot, because I want them to be perfect. In the photography world, I feel like there is a fine line between cheesy and cool and just enough vs. over the top. I prefer minimal props, so the focus remains on the families and children. For the tree farm minis, I bought 20 live Christmas trees from Yesterland Farms in Canton, Texas, and I scored an amazing 1966 VW beetle on CraigsList for $150! I envisioned this car for the set-up vs. an old truck because I just wanted something more unique and…funky! The car was literally a piece of junk – no motor, lots of body damage and in desperate need of a new coat of paint. I had faith that I could get this car picture-ready. My husband on the other hand was not nearly as positive or happy with my purchase. But the man I bought it from put me in contact with a guy who could fix it up for me.
So for an extra $300, this piece of junk became a wonderful treasure! How cute is she?
Once again, I redeemed myself. My vision turned into a reality and clients loved the tree farm and my adorable VW bug.
Here are some of my favorite images from the fall. Thank you for choosing me. I truly appreciate you.
And we can’t forget all my babies!
I am confident 2017 will be as busy, fun and full of beautiful images. 🙂
